Personal Background: Flash is one of my hobbies and I really like making flash spiritual and inspirational flash movies to share those with my friends. Flash is fun to discover. I'm retired now and I don't work, but when I was working, I serviced computers and upgraded software for more than 20 years. One of my talents is playing the five string banjo and I have cut part of my playing out of a song I like to play and made a Windows startup/shutdown sound files.
Victoria Veligodsky: What made you start searching this kind of software?
Lewis Haney: I was trying to make a Macromedia Flash movie file a standalone movie file that required no other software to be installed on the user computer. I was putting together flash movie files on an autorun cd with a menu structure for my friends and since I didn't know what software they had installed on their computer I needed files to run regardless of their capabilities. This meant making a SWF flash file into an executable standalone file.
Victoria Veligodsky: In which ways did you perform your search? How did you find SWF Toolbox?Lewis Haney: I usually go to ZD-Net downloads to look for particular software applications when I need to get something done and search using various keywords. I used the keyword "swf" and came across
SWF Toolbox along with many others.
Victoria Veligodsky: What made you choose this product by Eltima? Did you try using other products for the same task?
Lewis Haney: After downloading and trying several different ones I chose SWF Toolbox simply because the way it was structured and the user interface was very much straight forward. I was able to start using it right away without any learning curve at all and I am new to flash files altogether. All that was needed was a little common sense.
SWF Toolbox has all the tools wrapped into one package whereas the other products that I tried were separate software packages, for example, one program to change the resolution of the movie file, another program to convert it to and .exe file, another program to make a screensaver file, another program to convert the .exe file back to .swf format, another program to make a video of the .swf file (.avi video). Some of the other software programs would not operate on the .swf file due to a protection being added and SWF Toolbox was able to handle that problem too.
Victoria Veligodsky: Are you using SWF Toolbox now? What are you using it for?
Lewis Haney: I am just learning about flash files and some of the possibilities with them but for now I am simply making the flash movie file a standalone executable file so that I can share spiritual flash movie files and inspirational movie file among my friends, most of which have little knowledge of how to make things work when they don't. I do not make any kind of earnings nor charge for anything I do as it is just for my personal use and to share with my friends.
Victoria Veligodsky: What benefits are you getting by using SWF Toolbox by Eltima?
Lewis Haney:
I have already benefited from Eltima software as it is a total package when it comes to the manipulation of flash files. It saves me time and it is the only software program that I need instead of using four or five different ones to get the same result.
Just wanted to let you know that I think your product "SWF Toolbox" is an awesome product. I have tried the demo version and I have not seen nor used anything else like it. This is great for manipulating flash data files and if I wasn't disabled and could afford to buy it, I would immediately. I've never seen any one software product that packed all the tools you could ever need into one package. I will be experimenting more with this product and I'm sure I'll come up with even more ways to use it. When I was working, before becoming disabled, I serviced computers and upgraded software for more than 20 years, so I've seen a lot of different software packages in my time.
Victoria Veligodsky: Thank you Lewis for such warm and touching words about our product! We are complimented by such an opinion from you.
Lewis Haney: If you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask them and I'll be glad to answer the best I can. Keep up the great work at Eltima Software!
