Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. I have noticed that the resulting Flash movie has some unwanted artifacts produced, while necessary objects have disappeared (however, they are present on timeline). What gives?
  • A. Most likely you are experiencing the problem with mask layers. In order to fix it, please, disable "Morphs folder" option in Timeline settings area.

    • Switch to Advanced mode if you are currently in Simple one
    • Select Timeline option from All settings list
    • Disable Morphs folder option if it is enabled

Additionally, we advise you to use Flat mode as Morphs Algorithm option. If none of the above methods fixes your problem, please, e-mail your SWF file and Conversion log file to our support team at support@eltima.com

  • Q. I have a problem with ActionScript that dynamically outputs text fields (game score, etc.). What is the possible solution to my problem?

  • A. Please, disable Text into library option.
    • Switch to Advanced mode if you are currently in Simple one
    • Select Symbols options from All Settings list
    • Disable Text into library option if it is enabled

  • Q. What is the best option to be able to edit text in FLA file?
  • A. Please, follow the steps below:

    • Switch to Advanced mode if you are currently in Simple one
    • Select Symbols settings option from All Settings list
    • Choose Convert as text option from Static texts mode menu

  • Q. I may see question marks instead of my text in resulting FLA file. How to fix this?
  • A. This problem could be two-fold. Firstly, Adobe Flash MX incorrectly handles characters codes: it writes characters as ASCII, however, reading them as Unicode. You may fix this problem by enabling Force ANSI option in Symbols settings area.

Secondly, resulting FLA file may not convert texts properly if character's map is absent. In this case we advise you to convert texts as shapes. Select Symbols settings from All settings list and choose Convert as shape option. On the contrary, there could be a situation when text is represented as shapes. If you see blank text in resulting FLA file then most likely that shape's map is missing. In this case we advise you to convert text objects as text. Try to toss these settings to get the best result.

It's worth mentioning that you are not allowed to use "?" symbols in folders and layers names.

  • Q. After conversion to FLA my file is not exactly what the SWF was before, what can be the problem?
  • A. Yes, there can be some nuances, please, read FLA format limitations carefully and try to use one of the "Corrupted FLA" settings presets in Advanced mode.
