How to add watermarks to Flash movie
Digital watermarking is used to protect videos with a copyright notice or logo that denotes the origin of the video.
Such watermarks are aimed to prevent people from using videos without author's consent. Eltima SWF Video Converter allows
you to add both text and image watermarks to resulting Flash movies. To add watermarks, please, follow the steps below:
- Launch SWF Video Converter if it is not already started.
- Click "Browse" button which is located next to "Source Video file" option in Source/Target Files
panel and select the required video file in "Open file" dialog. Please, be patient while the file is loaded: large movies may
take some time to be loaded into preview window.
Once the movie file is successfully loaded, you will see that File Details pane is filled
with corresponding data, Activity log notifies that source file is loaded and
Start Conversion button is activated.
- Optionally, you may change the default file name of the target file (which is the same as the name of the original file but
has a different extension) by clicking "Browse" button which is located next to the "Target file" option in
Source/Target Files panel. Please, note that file extension depends on the "Output format" option
you set in Output options tab and could be either SWF or FLV.
- Switch to Video options tab and tick "Add text as watermark" checkbox if you want to add
text watermark. Now, type in the exact text message in a textfield to the right of the checkbox and select the position and direction
of the message from drop-down menu. Please, note that if you type long message, the font size will be decreased automatically to
fit the frame. As the result the long text messages become unreadable (especially for sight impaired people), making
watermark meaningless.
- In case you want to add image watermark, please, enable "Add image as watermark" option. Click
button and navigate to required image file (BMP, JPG and PNG) in "Open file" dialog. Additionally, you may change image location and direction by clicking
the arrow and selecting required icon from drop-down menu. Please, note that if you want to avoid image distortion, we advise you to
select the image (or prepare it beforehand) small enough to fit into 1/3 of original movie frame.
- You may change image and text watermark's opacity by enabling "Opacity" option and moving the slider to either
side of the gauge. 0% opacity (the leftmost position) means that image/text will be absolutely opaque (not visible). This value affects both image and text watermarks at the same time.
Please, note that demo version will add "Eltima SWF Video Converter - unregistered" text
watermark with 50% opacity level to all converted Flash movies. As the result image watermark
will inherit 50% opacity as well.
- Click Start Conversion button to start the conversion process. You may check
Activity log to be aware of any possible problems or conversion progress.
In case you want to stop conversion process, please, click Stop Conversions button in the program
Toolbar. If you have enabled "Open the
resulting SWF/HTML automatically when the conversion is over" option in Configuration options
panel, the resulting file will be automatically opened with the associated application when the conversion
process is successfully finished.
