Today we will take a look at case study of Xuehui Li, product manger from Beijing, who describes how Serial to Ethernet Connector by Eltima Software helps their company – Zealtech.
Using Serial to Ethernet Connector for communication equipment
Zealtech is a manufacturer of serial port communication equipment. This company designs and produces the serial port hardware for TCP/IP network. All products are based on ARM processor, including ARM7, ARM9.
Alex Taylor: What challenges made you search for this kind of software?
Xuehui Li: One of the functions of our hardware is the communication with computers through virtual COM port, so we need a virtual COM port drivers for Windows-based system. Our current virtual COM drivers are supported with a previous version of Window 7, so we hope to replace our current drivers with up-to-date drivers.
Alex Taylor: How did get to know about Serial to Ethernet Connector by Eltima Software?
Xuehui Li: We searched for virtual serial port driver in Baidu amd Google, and installed the evaluation version to test with our devices.
Alex Taylor: Did you try other products for the same task before choosing Eltima solution? Why did you prefer our product?
Xuehui Li: We tested several other virtual serial port drivers, comparing communication delay, protocol support and so on, and our the final choice is your Serial to Ethernet Connector.
Alex Taylor: Please, describe how you are using our product now.
Xuehui Li: We use Serial to Ethernet Connector for our hardware whitch could be used to connect any serial device to Ethernet network, so Serial to Ethernet Connector is bounding our hardware together. We installed Serial to Ethernet Connector by Etima on different computers, and connect with our hardware through TCP/IP protocol, so the software uses virtual COM port as the real COM port.
Alex Taylor: How did you benefit from using USB Network Gate?
Xuehui Li: We don’t have to pay the extra cost for maintenance and upgrading of our virtual COM drivers. In addition the Serial to Ethernet Connector supports the most of Windows systems, it is just what we needed!
