General idea regarding syncmate installation on: February 18, 2010, 03:21:05 PM
I am sure this is of limited interest, but I have a suggestion if at all possible for future syncmate installs.

It would be incredibly useful to me if the installation process for syncmate, and updates, could be done without requiring "administrator" permissions.  I have no idea if this is possible or feasible, but for my use in a controlled environment [work] it would be great if I could install syncmate updates without having to ask the IT-guy to do the install every time.

Particularly since updates come out fairly often, and that sometimes they break things and you need to install back to an older version for a while.

Since SyncMate places its plugins to Mac OS system folders it requires administrator permissions. Mac OS has limits on what some user accounts can do and if you install SyncMate under a basic user account, you’re prompted to enter a password.

This is not a SyncMate issue. This is the peculiarity of Mac OS security.
