CloudMounter – ExpanDrive alternative
Nowadays we cannot do without storing our information on different cloud storages in order to access it anytime we want. It is rather convenient and allows you not to lose your data. However, not everything is so shiny as it seems for the first sight, as web-interface cannot be reliable and when using client apps you can face with the issue of duplicating all your data on a local drive thus stealing so valuable storage space. Even more, as there exist a lot of cloud storages, installing a couple of client apps is not an option as it has an effect on your system performance and it doesn’t matter whether it is a powerful one. However, third-party apps can help you to mount cloud storage and ease your life as they usually do not duplicate everything on a local drive.
ExpanDrive and CloudMounter as an alternative to ExpanDrive
Let’s start with ExpanDrive. The app facilitates managing files in a quick and effortless way. With ExpanDrive you can easily connect to such famous cloud services as S3, Amazon Drive, OpenStack Swift, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Box. The app makes it easy to connect to remote servers via FTP/SFTP and WebDAV protocols. The app has a very user-friendly interface that makes it simple to use and you won’t waste time thinking where to click and how to make it work. The app upload data in the background and even resume the process if it was interrupted.
As for CloudMounter the app also allows to mount cloud drive and flawlessly access the files there as they are stored on your local hard drive. The app supports a wide range of cloud storages including Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3, Microsoft OneDrive, OpenStack Swift, Box and Backblaze B2 as well as you can seamlessly connect to remote servers via FTP/SFTP/FTPS and WebDAV protocols.
Having a minimalistic interface the software looks like a connection manager where each service has its own icon and button. You do not need to wreck your head thinking how to connect the service, simply click the button and that’s it.
The most striking feature of CloudMounter is that the app uses AES to ensure the security of your online data whereas this feature is not supported in ExpanDrive for now. Also the app uses native APIs of the services when signing into them and all the passwords for them are stored in macOS Keychain.
All of these things and even more make CloudMounter one of the best cloud manager solutions and a reliable utility to work with cloud storages and remote servers.
