Any number of virtual COM ports
The number of virtual RS232 ports you can create with the help of RS232 communication software is almost unlimited; while your real serial ports remain free. Virtual ports can be given any name, existent serial ports’ names included. The system sees and recognizes virtual ports as they are displayed in ‘ports’ group in Device Manager. You can set up a port so only particular applications will have access to it.
Real ports settings emulation
The system will not see any difference between virtual and real ports. Virtual com ports are as good as the real ones, they emulate all functionality, including Baud rate, data bits, parity bits, stop bits, etc. Virtual RS232 port driver emulates a serial line break and is fully compatible with API COM. VPSD uses advanced Windows kernel driver technology that allows WDM, WMI, Power Management, PnP, Windows messages, etc. support.
All signal lines support
Virtual RS232 null modem cable allows emulating and supporting all standard hardware signal lines (DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, RING, ERROR, DCD, etc.). Just like a real one, virtual null modem cable connects DTR of the local port to DSR and DCD of the remote port, RTS of the local port to CTS of the remote port. You are free to choose loopback pinout or customize it to suit your hardware configuration best.

Splitting Serial Ports
Virtual Serial Port Driver PRO enables the splitting of physical serial ports (e.g. COM 1) into multiple virtual COM ports (COM2, COM3, COM4, etc.). These virtual ports are presented to your system as exact copies of a physical serial interface. In addition, this RS232 communication software allows the sharing of physical hardware ports by multiple applications. This function allows a single COM port and its connected device to be accessed by several serial applications. -
Joining COM ports
Virtual Serial Port Driver PRO lets you link multiple physical RS232 ports to one virtual. Connected in this way, a serial application accessing the virtual RS232 port receives data simultaneously from all linked physical COM ports. This advanced feature lets you redirect data to one application from several different devices. -
Creating bundle connections
An option available when using Virtual Serial Port Driver PRO allows the creation and management of complex serial port bundles. Serial data can then be transmitted both in and out by unlimited virtual and physical serial interfaces. For example, serial data received on the ‘IN’ side of a COM port can be redirected to all COM ports on the ‘OUT’ side of the bundle and vice versa.
You can also easily manage hardware control lines by setting the Main Port for both the ‘IN’ and ‘OUT’ side of a bundle. -
Automatic Port Switching
In cases where an application can only use a limited number of ports, a special feature of Virtual Serial Port Driver PRO called Switcher can be extremely beneficial. Using Switcher allows you to connect multiple physical ports into one virtual interface, or use the same name for all ports. Then you simply create a switcher in your app to make use of this specially created virtual RS232 port.
When your program searches for a connection to a serial port, the switcher detects open COM ports from the list of connected ports and makes one available to the application. In this manner, your program will talk to any free serial connection automatically as if it were always the same port. -
Merging COM ports
Another advanced feature of Virtual Serial Port Driver PRO allows the addition of unlimited virtual and physical COM ports to a serial port bundle that has not been divided into ‘IN and OUT’ sides. Using this feature, all devices and applications have the ability to transmit data with all other devices and applications at the same time. All data sent to one port is replicated to all other ports in the bundle, both virtual and physical.
