Serial to Ethernet Connector
Serial over IP software from Electronic Team, Inc. that has been around for over a decade. It allows you to create a number of virtual COM ports on a machine whenever the need arises. Many modern day machines may not have com ports included. Serial to Ethernet Connector overcomes this hardware limitation, allowing you to connect to multiple remote serial devices.
The only restriction to the number of virtual connections you can create is determined by your system's resources.
With Serial to Ethernet Connector, all remotely connected devices will be fully accessible and data transfer between your machine and the remotely connected device will happen as if the device is physically connected to your machine.
How to use Serial to Ethernet Connector?
In order to make use of Serial to Ethernet Connector, you must download and install the software on both the Server and the Client machines. The Server machine is the machine to which the physical device is connected. The client machines are the ones wishing to have remote access to the physical device. If you are making use of virtual machines, the software must be installed there too.
Once installation is complete, start the application on the Server. Select the "Create Server Connection" option. Provide your communication parameters. Then start up the application on the client machines. Select the client option and configure the settings accordingly.
That is all it takes. The remote device connected to the server will now be fully accessible to the client machines as if they were physically connected.
Serial to Ethernet Connector is fully compatible with 32 or 64 bit versions of Windows, from XP through to Windows 10. Serial to Ethernet Connector is also available for Windows Server 2012, and it provides RS232 over IP on Linux command line. ARM based devices can also utilize the Linux version of this software.
